本单元围绕“展望未来这一主题展开，反应了人们对未来生活与技术发展的期待与担忧，鼓励学生深入思考现代科技发展对未来人类生活的影响和意义。本节课是这一单元reading and thinking板块，此版块的活动主题是交流对智能家居的看法。学生通过阅读一篇介绍未来智能家居的说明文，在有关科技和未来的主题语境下，从居家生活切入话题。该语篇将未来科技和日常生活场景结合在一起，拉近话题和学生的距离，激发他们的学习兴趣。
本文是一篇杂志类型的文章，分三部分展开。这篇科普文的开头通过提问导入话题，给人一种亲切、真实的感觉。并且在第一段末尾提出“智能家居能保证我们的安全，节约能源，并提供更舒适的居住环境，以此对应标题 “Smart Homes to Make Life Easier”，同时引出下文。第二部分为三个分标题，分别阐述了智能家居的智能控制、健康检查、防范灾害的功能。每一分标题下都通过一个主题句简要介绍该功能，随后通过具体例子进一步说明。最后一部分为最后一段，作者提出智能家居 “is not a fantasy”,并提出 “the home of tomorrow is already the home of today”。由此，我们可以推断出，作者对于未来智能家居的态度是积极乐观并且支持的。
本文给我们展现了智能家居对于一些现实生活场景问题或需求的解决方案，同时有意说明创新不是天马行空、凭空想象而来的，而是和现实有密切的联系。高中学生正处于思想活跃、满怀憧憬的年纪，对未来充满了遐想。当他们展望未来时，应该脚踏实地，才能将美好想象付诸行动。
学情分析
本堂课的教授时间是高一下学期，本学段的学生思想十分活跃，求知欲和好奇心很强，对未来充满遐想。加之，本节课内容与未来科技、智能家居有关，学生非常感兴趣，且和他们的日常生活息息相关，学生比较关注。
我的授课对象是我校高一5班学生48人。该班学生为普通班，除几个学生英语成绩突出外，大部分学生成绩中等，尤其是英语口语表达能力和听力能力不太理想。但学生们比较外向开朗，表达欲望很强。在本课教授过程中，问题设置由易到难，层层深入，并且适当引导提示，学生能够顺利完成各项课堂互动，解决所遇到的问题。通过本节课学习，学生能够巩固所学话题词汇和表达，能够借助思维导图复述全文，能够就智能家居进行思辨性对话，能都对智能校园智能课堂进行预测想象，语言文化思维学习能力都得到升华。
教学目标：

  1. 了解语篇的主旨大意，识别作者的写作目的和目标读者，总结作者的写作策略。
  2. 根据关键词语查找语篇中的细节信息，了解智能家居的具体功能。
  3. 掌握文章的框架结构，绘制有关本文智能家居的思维导图并复述文章。
  4. 总结智能家居的优点，讨论其潜在问题，发展批判性思维，并通过对话进行场景交流。
  5. 发散思维，展开合理想象，预测未来智能学校职能课堂。

  2. T asks Ss to think about the question why the smart homes are smart or helpful.
  3. T ask Ss to work out the topic sentence of paragraph one and read it.

  1. T asks Ss to work out the topic sentence of each paragraph two and read it.
  2. T explains the function of the topic sentence.
  3. T ask Ss to find out the examples of the three different functions.
  4. T gives Ss the question: “ How does the writer develop the three subtitles?” and lead them to find the answer.
  5. T invites Ss to finish the activity 3 on the textbook.

  2. T invites Ss to work out the attitude of the writer towards smart homes.
