Teaching steps:
Step 1 Greetings Step 2 Lead in
Sing the ABC song together. Step 3 Presentation
Have Ss say which are the vowel letters, write them on the Bb, and teach the sound of them. Step 4 Practice
1. Open the book at page 15. Have Ss look at the table on the top, listen to the tape
and read after the tape. Help Ss find what sounds the letters “a, e, i, o, u” make. 2. A game (TPR)
3. Have Ss do Exercise A in the textbook individually, then check the answer. Step 5 Presentation
Give Ss more word cards, help them find the different sounds that “a”，“e”, “i”, “o”, “u” make, tell them the concept of open syllable and closed syllable，read the words together. Step 6 Practice
1. Have Ss read the words in Exercise B individually. Then read together. 2. Have Ss read the sentences in Exercise C individually. Then read together. Step 7 Presentation
Teacher says a long tongue twister to arouse Ss’ interest. Step 8 Practice
1. Show Ss some tongue twisters. Let them have fun reading them. 2. Have a competition between groups if time permits. Step 8 Summary
Summarize the knowledge the Ss have learnt today. Step 9 Homework
Revise the sounds they have learnt today. Preview some other vowels on Page 106.
