Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show?

教学目标 
知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词:soap opera, sitcom , news , stand, mind
2) 能掌握以下句型:
A:What do you think of game shows?  
B:I like/love them. /I don’t like them. /I can’t stand them. /I don’t mind them.
   I think they are interesting/wonderful/boring……
能力目标:
1) 能听懂简单的对话并能用英语表述对电视节目的观点。
2) 能谈论对不同类型的电视节目的看法与喜好。
情感目标:
学会谈论流行文化,了解各类电视和电视节目的名称和自己的喜好。引导学生们形成正确的文化观念,培养学生们的跨文化意识,形成自己独立的个性。
2学情分析 
初二学生有了一定的听说基础,加之本单元谈论对电视节目的喜好这一话题学生熟悉而感兴趣;但news的用法和soap opera,sitcom,mind等词的读音学生难快速掌握,而且谈论对电视节目的喜好所用的句型是他们表达的难点,因而将在课堂互动中反复运用。
3重点难点 
1) 学习掌握各类电视节目名称和重点句型:
A: What do you think of game shows/news?  
B: I like them/it. / I love them/it. / I don’t like them/it. / I can’t stand them/it. /I don’t mind them/it.
I think they are/it is interesting/wonderful/serious/tiring.
2) 学会询问他人对某事物的观点并会正确表达自己的看法。
4教学过程
4.1第一学时
4.1.1教学活动
活动1【导入】Step I: Let’s watch a video! 
Let students enjoy the video clip of America’s got talent and ask them “What do you think of it?” “Do you like it?” “Why do/don’t you like it?”.

活动2【讲授】Step Ⅱ: Let’s work in groups! 
Let students work in groups of three to have a brainstorming “what other TV shows do you know?”
活动3【活动】Step Ⅲ: Let’s learn the new words! 
First show students pictures of soap operas and sitcoms to learn the new words and know how to pronounce them. Then, present the mind map of TV shows to make students be aware of all the TV shows.

活动4【活动】Step Ⅳ: Let’s play a word game! 
Play the game Quick Response to ensure students have mastered all the TV shows and known how to pronounce them.
活动5【活动】Step Ⅴ: Let’s practice the conversation. 
Guide students to express their opinions towards TV shows and work in pairs to practice the conversation.
A: what do you think of game shows?
B: I think they are interesting/relaxing/fantastic/tiring. I love/ like/ don’t mind /don’t like/ can’t stand them.
A: what do you think of news?
B: I think it is interesting/relaxing/fantastic/tiring. I love/ like/ don’t mind /don’t like/ can’t stand it.
活动6【活动】Step Ⅵ: Let’s chant! 
Let’s students clap and chant:
TV shows, TV shows, what do you like?
Game shows, game shows, I like them.
Talk shows, talk shows, I love them.
TV shows, TV shows, what do you like?
Sports shows, sports shows, I don’t mind them.
Talent shows, talent shows, I can’t stand them.
活动7【活动】Step Ⅶ: Let’s listen! 
First listen and number the shows [1-4] in the order you hear them.
Then listen again and fill in the chart.

活动8【活动】Step Ⅷ: Let’s interview and report! 
Ask students to work in groups of three (one as the interviewer, one as the interviewee and one as the reporter) to ask their group members’ opinions towards TV shows.
Report:
Hello, everybody. I’m…... from…… Today I’m so happy to tell you something about……. He loves…… because …... He doesn’t mind…… because……. How about ……? Oh, he usually can’t stand them! They are so ……

Please interview more classmates about their opinions of TV shows.
